Staying Active 

We tend to fall asleep faster when tired. The best way to get more tired during the night is by burning off the excess energy during the daytime. Perform a few exercises meant for seniors every day or even on weekends. You can ride a bike, go for long walks, or even dance to your favorite songs. You’ll feel tired by the time you are ready to sleep at night. 

Creating a Routine

Sticking to a bedtime schedule and routine will help the body develop consistency when it comes to sleeping. Go to bed at the same time every day, and do that regularly even when you don’t feel like sleeping early. After a few weeks, your body will adjust and be ready to sleep at that particular time. Avoid long and multiple naps during the daytime. In assisted living, a stable routine is always in place. 

Promoting Relaxation

Another practical way to get better sleep at night is by engaging in activities that calm the mind. Some of these activities include listening to soft music, meditating, and taking a warm bath. You can also read a hard-copied book and do a few gentle stretches. In other words, do something that will soothe and relax your body until it feels sleepy.
