Dance Therapy for Dementia and Alzheimer’s Residents in Assisted Living Cottages in The Woodlands, Spring, Kingwood
I will never forget our sweet memory of Mr Boyd and his darling wife Andrea dancing in the living room together. They held each other tight and swayed to the music while we all held back our tears. Boyd struggled with dementia, and Andrea supported him and kept him engaged as much as possible. Dancing is a good activity for dementia or Alzheimer’s residents because of the different levels of difficulty if provides. Advanced skills to swaying to the music. Most of our residents in our assisted living cottages prefer to “boogie” to the beat of an up tempo oldie. Some may know the song, some may not, but one things for sure, they do love to dance! It’s an outward expression of a feeling they may not can articulate or even speak…and it’s AMAZING to be a part of. Call us for a time to visit our residents during Music Therapy for some dancing fun one day…we would be glad to have you.
